My name is Brenda Givens, and I’m a passionate and driven fashion designer with a strong ambition to build a successful clothing brand. I have a degree in Apparel Design and Development from the University of Wisconsin-Stout, with a minor in Digital Marketing. With a creative mindset and a commitment to innovation, I’m excited to apply my skills and knowledge to make a meaningful impact in the fashion industry.

From a young age, I was filled with entrepreneurial ideas, whether it was imagining owning a dance studio, songwriting, acting, or even becoming a fashion designer. Dance played a significant role in shaping my creativity, and as a young dancer, I would sketch my dream costumes for performances. This passion for design evolved as I grew older, and although my career interests shifted, fashion remained at the heart of my creativity.
My parents sparked my interest in fashion when they introduced me to a children’s design book, and from there, my passion grew. Throughout middle and high school, I spent hours upcycling clothing I found at local thrift stores, customizing pieces to reflect my personal style. This process of transforming secondhand garments into something new deepened my love for fashion and design, and it wasn't until my senior year of high school that I realized fashion could be a career path I could pursue.
What drives me most is the ability to make others feel confident in their skin through my designs. Fashion has the power to uplift, and I believe it can bring people together. No matter how I feel, putting on the right outfit can completely change my mood—and I want to offer that same transformation to others. My goal is to create designs that provide options for those who feel like they don’t have them, while also celebrating individuality and diversity.
To start my career in fashion, I plan on working in the corporate side of the industry to gain experience before eventually launching my own sustainable streetwear brand. Through my designs, I hope to help others express their unique personalities with bold, colorful pieces, while reducing the negative impact the fashion industry has on our environment.
